englischCollected in these Proceedings are the papers from the 4th Southeast European Bioethical Forum, held on September 3-5, 2008 in Opatija (Croatia), as a satellite conference of the 9th World Congress of Bioethics. The importance of this conference demonstrates itself in two aspects; on the one hand, the conference was the place of acknowledgment of the concept of integrative bioethics, previously developed through dialogue and cooperation of bioethicists in Central, South, and South-East Europe, as a highly innovative concept which generally brings bioethics to a higher level of development, and, on the other hand, by the very fact that this conference was held within the 9th World Congress of Bioethics, this concept actually arose on the world scene. Historical development of bioethics towards the stage of integrativity proceeded on the methodological level as a gradual widening of the circle of perspectives dealing with bioethical issues, from promoting certain moral principles, through ethical pluralism and scientific interdisciplinarity, to pluri-perspectivism. Simultaneously, a process of expansion and intensification of the domain of bioethical issues took place, from the initial issues in health care and biomedical research, through the issues regarding non-human living beings and general conditions of the preservation of life (ecology), all the way to reaching the deep, philosophical-historical dimension of these issues.
Dieser Sammelband enthält die Beiträge des 4. Südosteuropäischen Bioethik-Forums, das vom 3. bis 5. September 2008 als angeschlossene Konferenz im Rahmen des 9. Bioethik-Weltkongresses in Opatija (Kroatien) stattfand. Die Bedeutung dieser Konferenz wird durch folgende zwei Aspekte anschaulich: Zum einen konnte sich das Konzept der integrativen Bioethik, das in den vergangenen Jahren im Dialog und in der Zusammenarbeit von Bioethikern aus Mittel-, Süd- und Südosteuropa entwickelt wurde, als innovatives Konzept behaupten, wodurch auch die Bioethik im Ganzen auf eine höhere Entwicklungsstufe befördert wurde; zum anderen bestätigt allein schon die Tatsache, dass die Konferenz im Rahmen des 9. Bioethik-Weltkongresses abgehalten wurde, endgültig die weltweite Präsenz dieses Konzepts. Die geschichtliche Entwicklung der Bioethik zum Stadium der Integrativität verlief auf methodologischer Ebene in Form einer allmählichen Ausweitung des Kreises von Perspektiven, die bei der Untersuchung bioethischer Probleme einbezogen werden: vom Vertreten bestimmter moralischer Prinzipien, über ethischen Pluralismus und wissenschaftliche Interdisziplinarität, bis hin zum Pluriperspektivismus. Parallel dazu vollzog sich ein Prozess der Ausweitung, aber auch der Vertiefung des Problembereichs, mit dem die Bioethik sich beschäftigte. Dieser umfasste anfangs die Probleme der Gesundheitsfürsorge und der biomedizinischen Forschung, dehnte sich aus auf die Problematik nicht-menschlicher Lebewesen und der allgemeinen Bedingungen zur Bewahrung des Lebens (Ökologie), um sich schließlich auch in die geschichtsphilosophische Tiefendimension dieser Probleme zu versenken.
