englischFreedom of enquiry, the most significant of all freedoms in academia in modern constitutional states, has become the subject of moral, political and legal debates. In this book, experts from different disciplines describe and explain rules of free expression in changing historical contexts and thus explore the scope and limits of the freedom of enquiry in academia. On this basis, they discuss normative questions relating to the freedom of enquiry today. In doing so, they show that academic freedoms are not only restricted by state regulations and economic constraints, but are also threatened by internal academic disciplining and are rightly challenged when one confronts blind spots in one's own traditions of thought.
