„Sicherheit“ ist ein Leitbegriff unserer Gegenwart. In fast sämtlichen Politikbereichen darf Sicherheit als eine zentrale Zielvorstellung gelten, längst nicht mehr nur im Hinblick auf Krisen in internationalen Beziehungen, die innere oder die soziale Sicherheit. Die Schriftenreihe Politiken der Sicherheit | Politics of Security richtet vor diesem Hintergrund ihren Blick darauf, wie sich Konzepte und Vorstellungen von Sicherheit in der Geschichte, von der Vormoderne bis hin zur Gegenwart, entwickelt haben. Besonderes Interesse gilt dabei der Frage, wie Themen zu Sicherheitsthemen wurden und welche politischen Wirkungen dies hatte und hat.
Die deutsch- und englischsprachige Reihe wendet sich an die historische sowie die sozial-, rechts- und kulturwissenschaftliche Forschung, die sich mit Dynamiken von Sicherheit, mit Diskursen und Praktiken der Herstellung und Darstellung von Sicherheit befasst. Mit ihrem Fokus auf der Historischen Sicherheitsforschung ist die Reihe in theoretischer Hinsicht offen und schließt an die Vielfalt der im weitesten Sinne „kritischen“ Forschungsansätze an („securitization“, „human security“, etc.).
Sowohl die Mitglieder des SFB/TRR 138 als auch interessierte Wissenschaftler:innen außerhalb des SFB-TRR 138 werden ausdrücklich ermuntert, Monographien, nicht zuletzt Qualifikationsschriften, aber auch Themenhefte und Sammelbände, die zum inhaltlichen Profil der Reihe passen, dort zu veröffentlichen.

“Security” is a key concept today. Striving for security is regarded as the principal aim in almost all policy areas, and not only with regard to crises in international relations, internal or social security. Against this backdrop, the series of publications entitled Politiken der Sicherheit | Politics of Security examines how notions of security have developed throughout history, from the pre-modern era to the present day. It focuses particularly on addressing the question of how certain issues developed into security issues and what political effects this had and has.
This German and English-speaking series is intended to promote research from the fields of social science, law and cultural studies that deals with dynamics of security, with the creation and portrayal of security in both theory and practice. As it focuses on research into historical security, this series is receptive to all critical research projects on this subject and any issues related to it (securitisation, human security etc.).
Both members of the SFB/TRR 138 and interested researchers outside the SFB-TRR 138 are expressly encouraged to publish monographs, not least qualification papers, but also thematic issues and anthologies that fit the content profile of the series.
