englischWe live in times of crisis. Crisis, disorder, insecurity, uncertainty and upheaval seem to be the sign of our times. This anthology deals with the state in crisis. The term state in crisis combines two semantic levels: First and foremost, the expression refers to crises of the state, to state crises. At the same time, however, the term also refers to government action in crises. Crises are situations in which decisions have to be made under time pressure. The contributions collected here deal on the one hand in theoretical or empirical perspectives with the fundamental crisis-proneness or with current crises of the state and on the other hand with concrete state action in crises.
