englischUnder the responsibility of the Prussian Grand Chancellor Johann Graf von Carmer, the judicial system in Prussia and in Silesia, which had become part of Prussia, was subject to sweeping reforms in the 18th century. At the heart of these reforms lay the introduction of an inquisitorial system in civil litigation and the simultaneous removal of all solicitors from the relevant judicial proceedings. Thus, this study is devoted to a comparative analysis of selected procedural aspects of the main legislative materials with regard to Carmer’s judicial reforms. This comparative analysis will at the same time shed light on the hitherto disputed question of the actual authorship of the Corpus Juris Fridericianum.
