englischThe joint self-administration of doctors and health insurance funds plays a crucial role in shaping the outpatient medical care population. Throughout the 75-year history of the Federal Republic of Germany, the legislature has frequently influenced the development of this joint self-administration through reform laws and is currently preparing for another round of healthcare reform legislation. This paper analyzes the evolution of this legislation with the aim of drawing lessons from the experiences gained to inform the future direction of joint self-administration. The author has professionally accompanied a significant part of this development in responsible positions and therefore also evaluates the results from his own experiences.
