englischThe ‘Introduction to Social Work’ provides an overview of the subject of social work which goes beyond the needs of freshmen and sophomore students. Its second edition has been revised considerably in terms of structure according to suggestions from students, and many aspects of its content have been further developed. It answers fundamental questions on studying the subject, its identity, the discipline of social work itself and the profession in a comprehensible and explanatory manner. It also encourages self-study by offering exercises and precise suggestions for further reading.
Its chapters are each comprised of the contents of a two-hour lecture, which can be used as a basis for discussion in tutorials and as the basis of exams. This introductory guide to social work will help students to understand social work as a profession and a discipline and, consequently, to develop a sense of appropriate professional conduct in this line of work.
Die Einführung in die Soziale Arbeit leistet einen Überblick über die Wissenschaft Sozialer Arbeit nicht nur für Studierende in den ersten Semestern. Die zweite Auflage ist nach den Anregungen Studierender in der Gliederung deutlich überarbeitet und in einigen Inhalten weiterentwickelt. Grundlegende Einstiegsfragen nach dem Studium, der Identität (I.), der Disziplin (II.) und der Profession Sozialer Arbeit (III.) werden in verständlicher und erklärender Sprache beantwortet. Übungsaufgaben und gezielte weiterführende Literaturhinweise regen zum Selbststudium an.
Die Kapitel entsprechen jeweils einem zweistündigen Vorlesungsinhalt. Die Inhalte können als Besprechungsgrundlage für Tutorien und als Prüfungsgrundlage verwendet werden. Mithilfe der Einführung in die Soziale Arbeit gelingt es den Studierenden, eine Identität Sozialer Arbeit als Profession und Disziplin zu erkennen und aus dieser heraus Begründungszusammenhänge für professionelles Handeln zu entwickeln.
