englischThe study examines the growing impact of environmental policy on EU State Aid law. In this context, the book analyses different examples of current European policies. The compatibility of the European Emission Trading Scheme and the German Renewable Energy Act with the internal market is at the centre of the study. Using these examples, it examines the compatibility of environmental policy and competition policy in the law of the European Union. It is surveyed whether the growing influence of environmental aspects in the competition law of the EU is leading to systematic inconsistencies in relation to the “more economic approach” of the European commission. The author pleads for a “more environmental approach”.
