englischSubstantial processes of demographic and social change are increasingly altering social relations between generations. In volunteer work and paid work, extra-familial contact between generations is taking place and is demanded under the guiding principle of age diversity. In this book, a series of empirical studies examines how focused extra-familial exchange between generations should be designed, what psychological potential it offers, and which role intergenerational learning assumes in this context. It is shown that intergenerational exchange in both volunteer work and paid work can, among other things, strengthen intergenerational cohesion in society.
