englischGender equality has become a political issue, and developments towards equality are statistically proven. However, equality means more than just numbers. Real gender equality would be a vital factor in social development. Yet, it can only fulfil this function if gender differences are taken fully into account. Contrary to what has been done in the history of mankind so far, these differences should not be used to discriminate against one side but to show the mutual strengths of the genders. Gender cultures are, in his view, part of a general culture. Therefore, the author tries to show the origins of and reasons for gender differences by employing a comparative theory of culture. He is thus able to see the differences in a positive light and to attribute strengths rather than weaknesses to them. In doing so, he shows that the qualitative equality of genders would provide a step which by far outreaches purely statistical equality.
