englischIn his book, Paul Kuder delivers an equally crisp and novel analysis of the philosophical relationship between Kierkegaard and Heidegger. His study starts with Heidegger’s reception of Kierkegaard and contrasts Heidegger’s one-sided interpretation of the Dane with a more complementary and innovative reading. In consequence, a ‘vindicated’ Kierkegaard appears to be significantly closer to Heidegger than his sharp dissociations would suggest.

Both authors reflect in a sober and at times solemn manner on the existence of the human being. They both consider the conditions constituting our ‘Dasein’ and the abysses lurking within us. The reader learns what unifies and what separates both authors and what they have to say on ‘life’ as such.
