englischGroup liability and intra group exemption are more often attributed as having a mutual pattern of justification respectively compensation. Accordingly, both aspects are said to be mutually dependent and represent two inseparably linked aspects of the same issue. In practice, this link is expressed in particular when reference is made to the intra group exemption to justify the claim of a parent company for fines. This thesis examines whether this assumption is correct in principle and whether it has general validity. In doing so, the requirements of the two manifestations are compared, and several case studies beyond the paradigmatic parent-subsidiary relationship are examined.
