englischThe book develops a logic of normative argumentation based on the balancing of competing normative arguments. A main thesis is that the standard system of deontic logic is inadequate in this respect, and a fragmentation of deontic logic is required, according to the respective concept of validity. Most fundamental is the disctintion of normative arguments from normative assertions or judgements, and of the different logical rules applying to them. This distinction is systematically developed regarded normative systems, normative positions, the relation between values and norms, and some standard forms of legal argument. The book addresses all those interested in the structure of normative argumentation.
