englischThe Right to Autonomy of religious groups is a cornerstone of German constitutional law for which there is no English equivalent. After analysing the general legal status of religious groups in both countries, the author looks at how their legal position differs in two areas that, in Germany, are particularly characterised by the Right to Autonomy and the Principle of Neutrality: Religious education and institutional chaplaincy. Religious pluralisation is kept in mind throughout the book. Overall, it becomes apparent that English law, much like European law, understands religious freedom in individual and collective rather than corporate terms.
