englischThe author traces the ways in which the "constitutional ideas" of the German Basic Law have been adopted into Thai constitutional law, but in the process have been given completely different meanings in central points. Some constitutional provisions have been interpreted and applied in such a way that their meanings are unthinkable according to the original understanding, and some constitutional organs have changed in such a way that their competence is incompatible with the original idea. What is happening in Thailand with the import of the Basic Law can best be expressed by the Thai-English phrase "same same, but different".
