englischThe essays in this volume explore fundamental issues related to Ernst Bloch’s political philosophy, his publicistic interventions and their possible perspectives. Altogether, they highlight the great extent to which Bloch has stimulated political philosophy. According to Bloch, the modern state must be seen in the light of its abolition. Only in a classless society without political power can the fundamental problems of human existence be solved. In the light of this utopia, the rights of man and natural law acquire a positive meaning beyond the state. They become signposts in a social order which only accepts self-realisation without private property. Socialism in this meaning is the realisation of the promises given by the bourgeois revolutions and presupposes their democratic achievements.

PD Dr. Till Kinzel, IFB 5/2017
