englischIn recent years, as part of the global effort to combat terrorism, many countries have introduced new criminal offences and special rules for criminal proceedings. After a critical discussion of the politically sensitive term „terrorism“ and an analysis of its meaning in Russian law, the author examines the substantive and procedural criminal law regarding terrorist acts, analysing the relevant offences and exploring whether and to what extent Russian criminal procedure is modified in cases of terrorism. The author does not limit her focus to the narrow study of terrorism regulations, however; instead, these are always placed in the context of the fundamentals of Russian criminal law, for example regarding criminal liability of preparatory acts. The result is a study which does not only represent a significant contribution to the field of research on criminal law and terrorism but also to the field of Eastern European legal studies. This volume is a part of the series Schriften zum Internationalen und Europäischen Strafrecht, Band 16.
