englischWaste prevention and product ecodesign are increasingly becoming central issues as the debate on circular economy gains considerable momentum on the political agenda. Based on a legal-economic analysis of environmental law, this book provides a comparative examination of Brazilian and EU waste and product-related environmental law to answer the question of what lessons Brazil can learn from the European Union to prevent waste through product ecodesign regulation, if any. Examples of both indirect regulation such as extended producer responsibility, and direct regulation such as the Ecodesign Directive are scrutinised, showing that there is room for improvement in both jurisdictions.
