englischCompanies increasingly formulate environmental objectives and communicate them to their stakeholders. In order to assure that those objectives and employee behaviors are aligned, an environmental management control system is required. Such a control system supports the implementation of the environmental objectives. But the design of an environmental management control system is challenging. Therefore, this book addresses the design options of such a control system and its impact on employee behavior. These issues were researched in two case studies in German companies. The results of the case studies are presented in detail. Among the most important findings are the comparable patterns in the design of the environmental management control system of both companies and the evidence of their behavioral impact.
